 PROGRESS REPORT

Since the launch event on the 20th of January, the Foresight exercise has progressed as planned. We are still in the diagnosis phase collecting data to set the background.

More than 60 interviews have been conducted by the advisors of CM International in January and February with representatives from private and public research as well as representatives from the relevant ministries and the parliament. Discussion topics were the current situation of Luxembourg research as well as future orientations of public research.

The internet site www.fnrforsight.lu is a success with more than 190 people registered up to date (42 researchers from foreign countries). Registrations show a balanced response from all relevant sectors. You will find the results of the "question of the week" polls in the surveys section:
· The Foresight exercise has a wide support in the research community.
· The views of young scientists are seen as important in the Foresight.
· People see UK and France as good examples of successful R&D landscapes.

A study of the publications by Luxemburg research institutes at national, institutional and scientific discipline level and their citations is ongoing.

The desk research on the Luxembourg R&D landscape and the future orientations of research in foreign countries is progressing and will be finished be mid-March.

We are very much looking forward to the Young Researchers Workshops on 7th and 8th of March. About 100 young scientists from Luxembourg and abroad have been invited to give their opinions on future research priorities in Luxembourg.
